Promoting learning as a lifestyle choice.
We are a private home educating family based in the United Kingdom, join us on our educational journey outside of the traditional school setting.
Personalised Learning Journey
Every child is unique and so is their learning journey. We adapt our teaching practices and course content to the individual.
Interest and Nature Based Learning
We follow the child’s interests and take inspiration from forest schools to provide a nature-rich, engaging curriculum.
Education as a Way of Life
We believe in education as a way of life and incorporate it throughout all aspects of our lives. Learning doesn’t end at the classroom door.
Nurturing Academic Growth and Wellbeing
We nurture children’s interests and promote self-development and growth, both academically and for their personal wellbeing
Courses and CURRICULUM
Engaging and Interest Based, learning as nature intended.
We like to ensure our learners are educated to a high standard across a range of topics and subject areas. We do this by tailoring mini-courses, and activity topics to a child’s personal interests and talents; building confidence in their own abilities and encouraging further exploration and skill building.
Literacy and Numeracy
The core literacy and numeracy skills are at the very centre of our core curriculum. We work with children to assess their strengths and weaknesses in these areas and then devise a teaching programme that works for them. Whether that is academic or more life-skills based. Rest assured that by adulthood all of our learners will be able to read, write and preform basic maths skills, with the more talented one’s covering more advanced topics and subject areas at the pace that works for them.
Interest Based Subjects
Children learn best when they are interested and motivated by the topics and teaching materials; we therefore encourage children to share their interests and passions with us so we can guide them towards subjects and activities that support those interests. No subject is off-limits. Our current learners enjoy subjects such as Art & Design, Animals, Nature and Environmental Studies, History, Geography, Science and Cultures and even a Foreign Language.
Enrichment Activities
Sitting at a desk all day is boring to many children, and doesn’t allow them to reach their full potential. We arrange education trips and visits on a regular basis to allow children to learn in a more interesting and interactive way. These could include visits to farms, zoo’s, places of scientific or historic interest and even fun activities such as camping, amusement parks and visits to different places and environments.
Socialisation Opportunities
One of the biggest fears of families new to home education is socialisation. How can my child make friends if they are out of school? You will be amazed at the amount of group activities and meet-up events that are available for home educating families, both locally and nationally. Many local groups co-ordinate their events via social media platforms such as Facebook or WhatsApp. Children with social anxiety don’t need to miss out either as it’s often the case that once they are less overwhelmed with struggling to fit in at a school that’s not meeting their needs, they naturally become more curious about interacting with others. Home Education offers that freedom to work at the child’s pace and so there is less pressure to fit in or conform to official standards.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We would love to reach out and connect with other home educating families within the United Kingdom. We are working on developing a members only area that will allow us to connect and arrange educational activities together. More information will be available on this soon.
Blossom struggles to fit into mainstream schools, but doesn’t qualify for specialist provision.
Our programme bridges the gaps in the current UK Educational system.
Blossom is an 8 year old child with SEN needs; she found traditional formal schools overwhelming and stressful. They are unable to meet her SEN needs, but she doesn’t qualify for an ECHP and therefore is unable to be offered a place in a local specialist school. Our provision means she gets an education that is tailored to her needs and goals, with the support she needs to meet her SEN needs is available 24/7. She is now beginning to thrive within our caring and supportive system.
